Hi guys

Bike trackday novice here/ Two quick questions - does anybody trailer bikes to them. I've got a 250 two stroke and long distance A road/motorways don't really make it happy.

Can you take a race bike (non road legal type of thing)

Thanks in advance - Dave

Track day virgin here too....any responses to these questions? and what is cheapest way to start, I have R6 and lots of enthusiasm... but don't want to spend £150 a pop just to get on the track.

I'm not an authority on this but, yes, many people do trailer their bikes to the session. It is also very useful should the worst happen as you have a means of getting the bike home. (I know this from experience!)

Some track days are road legal bikes only, some are "more lenient". You’ll have to check with each organiser.

I have never been on a trackday where there has not been race bikes. I ride a road bike to and from trackdays because I can't put a trailer on my car and i do enjoy the odd sunday blast.

You can take whatever bike you wish as long as it's not a cobbled together scraper then it will be no problem at all.
Trailering or using a van is the best way to do it as you can throw the bin bags containing your bike in to drag home (only kidding ) Also prevents you riding home like a loon and getting it wrong on the road where there's less run off and big things coming the other way.

nearly all t/day organisers allow race bikes. As previously mentioned, all bikes should be in good condition. Most of the race bikes will be maintained to a higher standard than their road based counterparts!!

Over the years, more and more people are either using trailers or turning up in vans. The amount of riders typically riding to a day is less than 20 on most of the days I've been on.

Thanks for the info. I must admit I thought the majority of people would be there on big 4 strokes that they'd rode to the venue. It's starting to sound more like a test/practice day.
