Reliable Nissan Garage.

I’m thinking of replacing my Alfa GTV with a Nissan 350Z. I used to have a Nissan numptymobile which was a good (if boring) car. It was buggered up by the servicing (Rowstock – AVOID!!!) The same thing has happened to my Alfa (Autodelta & Black and White – AVOID AT ALL COSTS)

My question is this; does anyone know of a good, reliable, honest Nissan garage that won’t rip me off, damage the car or conduct a 230 mile test drive (thanks Autodelta)? I know that I am asking for trouble taking a new sports car to a garage which usually only sees Numpy wagons. Any advice gratefully received.

Bit of a tall order that.

Have a look on www.sxoc.com, they may be able to give some advice.

Very difficult to do, but if possible avoid the giant garage chains and try and find a garage where the owner is also an employee. If the garage owner's livelihood directly depends on hime providing a quality service, then this is probably the finest incentive you will find.

I called them in Ref to a new 350Z and they seemed very helpfull, sent me out all the bunf straight away. Just need to convince the wife that its a good idea to change my car......that I have only had for a month!!!

in fairness, I've dealt with 3 different Datsun dealers and they've all seemed pretty good to me (cf Audi dealer rip-off scum).

As for reliability, well Deester... Nissans are faultlessly reliable until you tune them beyond their spec.

I thought it wasnt for another 12 months or so because the Septics have taken the first years production run.

They are reliable, if they are not pushed over there limit or the drivers ability.

As I understand it either August or October 2003 depending on which report you believe.

Carzee. What have you heard about failure after tune up? Is this about the Skyline or the more bread & butter models?

I've not had any issues at all with my 200sx - it has run brilliantly and just looooves the cold air at this time of year. I get it looked at in Banbury at Antelope Nissan, although they did miss the fact that my brake pads were nearly down to the metal come MOT time!

The lesser models..

There's always a trade off between state of tune and reliability with any engine.

My point is that in a factory state of tune, their engines are bombproof and general quality is very good indeed.. a few minor squeaks and rattles notwithstanding, but hey - some 996s have squeaks and rattles..

GTiR - nah - pads & discs were fine. Had my brake fluid replaced though having boiled it on the track.. they'd never has anyone ask for a complete fluid change on a Primera before

Got to agree the Nissan dealers I've used have generally been pretty good, and not too expensive either.
