Mines due in 20th of march, 1000 words down so far - title is 'Can new materials and design make cars even safer' if anyone has any info!
It's a really long shot but when I was doing a Mats Eng course 5 years ago I remember reading something about the use of advanced composites & crash structures in a number of applications (motor racing being one). The article was along the lines of technology being used was about 20 years ahead of producitno or something like that. The major issue was that being able to decelearate mass or absorb shock in a linear manner wasn't that difficult given appropriate deformation structure & material - in many mainstream applications the technology was too expensive and often sacrificial.
I'm sure it was in one of the Materials Eng & Science journals from 1999 or 2000
Good luck!
Mine's due 15th of May (15-20,000 words), went to see supervisor with plan today and her response was "Normally I understand where people's dissertations are going, however yours has me baffled..."
Now have new title and am starting again...
(edited to add mine's on the right to have a child, thankfully have no more lectures so just have to do an essay and the dissertation)

I think I could have gone on for ages with my one just finding more and more things, and using more case studies, HOWEVER, I am not envious of ANYONE having to write 15000+ let alone PHD material.
Thing is my degree is an arts based one, I never realised at the start how much theory based work we would have to do.
[Digital Screen Arts is the BA im doing.]
Guys, seriously, good luck with the work and just try as hard as you can to do little bits at a time.
Remember, the structure is the key to all of it.
