156 V6 2.6 Air in - air out

I recently removed my CAT and just replaced it with a pipe straight through. Thought that it might be noisy - like the shops would like you to believe - but overall loudness increased by no more than 5%. Saved me money to, and increased power with approx 5%.
I would like to fit an airfilter, but I'm concerned about the heat. I live in South Africa and my car runs hot most of the time. Has anybody got a good design or trick? Maybe by fitting induction pipes from the front bumper?
