Beaten like a dead horse??

Has anyone fit a Ferrari or Lamborghini V-12? Or a Flat-12 in an Ultima? Also, does anyone have the dimentions of the F355 and F360 motors?

I understand why somebody wants to go the ferrari way.

Looked at it myself.

If then,,,, with the engine/gearbox/hubs/brakes/complete etc.

Went for a crashed one and almost bought it.

But it's only 400 HP and not the most reliable one.

The sound...The sound...

I like the harsh raw sound of an American V8(can-amish), but on the other hand a Ferrari V8...

I had a 355, and yes it did sound nice when you belted it....

But there are some sounds that a Ferrari makes that are not so nice.... like the sound of the cash register when you go for maintenance....

Have thought about using a Ferrari engine and transaxle either in my CanAm, or building another one. Looking at my 348, it appears that it would fit with a change to the exhaust system. It would be lighter. the only problem with the 348, 355 combo is that you have to remove the engine from the car to change the timing belts. That might not be the case in the Ultima, as you might be able to have enough room to remove the timing covers, something you cannot do in the actual car. By installing the Ferrari, that would allow you to put a couple of prancing horses on the side of the car and really confuse people.
Having said all this, I had the CanAm in Florida last week, and drove it to a very exclusive area in Naples Florida. Parked the car for a while, answered the usual questions from passer-bys, then when leaving, a brand new silver Ferrari 360 coupe approached from the other direction at an intersection. He gazed over at the CanAm, and in response I gave it a quick high-rev blip of the throttle that rattled a few windows in the local shops,as a kind of a "hello". He turned his gaze away!!! However a few minutes later, an old 308TB gave me a wave as we passed...My day was made!!

355 motor, 25K. It has been reliable for me and the sound is fantastic. No torque below 3ooo RPM but the motor loves to rev and this is not a problem but an opportunity if you understand how to keep a motor in it's power band. I measured the motor and the front cam covers are very removable if the transaxle position is maintained, elminating the "engine out" service.

Why do they sound so good? 180 degree crank, where do we get those for the SBC?

Huh no engine out....That makes life with a Ferrari engine 100 times easier!
