Toyo Proxes R888

Hi all,


Thinking of putting these little buggers on my Cerb as it is really only used in dry weather but driven hard so i want the BEST grip available.
Has anyone used these great looking tyres, they look like a cut slick, which must = LOADS OF GRIP.

An excellent tyre. They do work in the wet but they test your driving skills more than their road going brothers, T1-R's. Sideways grip and brakes are where you'll find the most improvement. They are hard sidewall so for the sake of your teeth you will need to find an acceptable low pressure to run them at. Problem is if the pressure is too low the rears will start to rotate on the rim and thereby loose more pressure. One trick is to put a mark on the tyre where it lines up with the valve. Keep an eye on this and if it goes out of line just increase pressure a little. Obviously they don't last as long as road tyres.

If you've had SO3s in the past, then the side walls of R888s seem comparatively soft! Certainly on my Griff the R888s give a softer ride.

Remember they only start with 5mm of tread and they're a softer compound than usual road tyres so that adds up to a pretty short life. I've only had mine for less than 1000 road miles and so far very happy - not appreciably worn yet. Looking forward to getting on track!

I bought a set of 888's and put them on the Cerbera for Cream last year (still on the spare rims awaiting this years meets!) Can't really complain at all 500 mile round trip on the road plus hooning on the track all day, grip was great, wear was very good, would recommend - but now back to using SO3's for Winter!!

Cheers fellas for the well noted advise. looks like i will be getting some after all the plus points. Not to bothered about how long they last really, i would rather have to buy new ones in 2K miles than spin in a fast corner on tyres that last 10K miles.!!

LOADS of grip!!!

R888s sidewalls are hard but no complaints. wet grip ok, standing water? be carefull.

Proxies are soft sidewalls and are ok for normal use.

R888s are worth 11secs a lap at Spa compared to Proxies!!!!!!

Yeah but won't the fast corners just become faster corners?
