I`ve been lurking around this site for a while before deciding to register, picking up a lot of info along the way....thanks all.
I own a Type 23 Elise [white with green stripes] which I bought from new.
I have just purchased a battery charger/conditioner from Calamander as recommended by several folks here, as I am getting fed up with the "flat battery syndrome" after periods of non use!
In the instructions, it says that if the battery is connected to the vehicle, then one of the leads should be connected to the chassis, NOT the battery.
Any suggestions as to where it`s best to connect it? I think I will have to extend one of the leads as when the other lead is connected to the battery terminal, the other one won`t stretch very far.
Thanks.

I have a permanent connection for my optimate charger/conditioner wired direct to the +/- battery terminals. The car is always connected to the mains when its not driving.

Hi! I'm not an electrician so I await someone with more knowledge than I to comment, but I used to have an airflow battery conditioner (brilliant bit of kit) and literally it's plug onto battery and leave, while fully connected to the car (otherwise, things like your alarm and such like would not work, which in my mind is half the point of having a battery conditioner!)

Let me say welcome to PistonHeads also, and look forward to seeing you post more!

Included with the conditioner i bought was a set of leads to plug straight into the fag lighter (er.. 12v outlet).

It is my understanding this can only be done on the S2 due to wiring mods to the S2, other Ph's will know what, im not sure on the techi bit, but all i know/care is it works a treat and dead easy, so no excuses to not put it on even when in a lazy mood.

My '97 S1 has got a plug (like a radio controlled car battery plug) under the bonnet, near the battery, and i've got a charger/conditioner (which I've NEVER used) that I can just plug into that. I can leave my car for a few weeks at a time and never have any trouble with the battery.
