Z06... Bloody EVO!
Discussion
They've gone and gotten me looking again...
Murcielago grunt for the price of a well specced Sagaris.
Now, me being a bit strange, I'll most likely wantto fettle it and so was wondering what the accessories market's like for these cars...?
TVRs and Italian cars I know like the back of my hand, but Yank motors are completely new to me.
Would search myself, but work firewalls allows very few sites.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm no expert but I do know that the accessories and tuning market for Vettes is HUGE!
From simple interior upgrades to full Le Man C6R replicas - it's all there...
I think a couple of turbos bolted onto a C6 Z06 would make it a candidate for one of the fastest vehicles on the planet. Plenty of tuners with experience of that mod too - albeit mostly in the US, and at the moment on earlier Vettes.

The market for all things Corvette in USA is absolutely huge - try www.ecklers.com or www.madvet.com to get some idea.
C6 stuff in the USA should also fit Euro spec cars with very few exceptions. As for modding a late Vette, Vetteheadracer should be able to help as he has modded his C5 Z06 right off the scale, try a 405hp base engine bored out twin turbo'd - for starters
.
As and aside, you seem very close to me geographically but I've never been lucky enough to see your Murcie out and about - Lamborghini is my dream car - especially the Diablo - and I hope a Vette would be as well as the Lambo, not instead of ?

I live in Weston-super-Mare.
Sadly, I'm having to be a bit sensible this year and the 999 has gone and the Murci is up for sale at the moment.
Still keeping the 360 Spider for the time being, but I may let that go and "downsize" to the Z06. Hardly a step backwards though cos the torque on the Z06 would pull the 360's pants down.
We'll see... Whatever happens, I new exhaust would have to go on before I did anything.

My Z06 should be delivered in just over a week (yipppeeeeee!!!!), and I have been looking into the tuning scene already as you'd imagine.
For ultimate power, go to [url]www.callawaycars.com/[url/]
I spoke to them some time ago while researching an article for ACW on the Supernatural conversion (tasty tuning package for the stock C6, that can actually be ordered from a dealer at the time of purchase) and they will be twin turbocharging the Z06 to 750bhp by next autumn, unless some lucky individual pays them to accelerate their scheduled program.
When asked whether they would consider taking on the awesome Sledgehammer, they said "not with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty!" which is what the 750bhp version will come with, but of course anything has it's price...
750bhp with a 3 year warranty!!!!
For less severe modifications, a cam swap takes advantage of the huge flow capabilities of the LS7 heads. Over 600bhp is possible with just this conversion. The Gen3 range of engines is actually designed to make a cam swap pretty straightforward (compared to the older small block Chevy V8s).
A 150bhp nitrous kit has been added to a stock Z06 and yielded 10.9 second 1/4 mile times. This is probably the cheapest bang for the buck, but of course you do have to refill so cost is constant over time.
As for the exhaust, the stock Z06 has an exhaust valve that fully opens above 3,000 rpm, meaning you are running a straight through system, while retaining low speed stealth. I can't see why you'd want to change that really, can you make a worthwile improvement over an effectively straight through system?
Anyway, keep an eye open for forthcoming Z06 tuning articles in American Car World magazine, and for my Z06 at the drag strip this year. [url]www.chpltd.com/acw/[url/]

Aftermarket parts for Corvette is greater than the car itself. You want stainless steel letter inserts, grilles, body kits, cup holders, carbon fibre, billet handles, complete custom leather interiors, Corvette T-shirts, cufflinks, watches, caps, licence plate screw covers, dust caps, you name it, it's out there.

Went up to Stratstone on Saturday to do some paperwork, and had a look around the yellow Z06 in the showroom.
I'd like to revise my comment above on exhausts, the headers seem to go from 4 into 2 on each side of the block, in a less than smmoth curve/join, and don't look to be equal length.
I'm sure a set of nicely made, coated, equal length headers would make a decent improvement over the stock manifolds. Maybe the rest of the system is worth taking a look over too and eradicating any nasty tight bends and restrictions. A crossover tube to join each side of the exhaust system is a must also, not sure if the stock system has this feature already....any Z06 owners out there to confirm that?

A few aftermarket parts makers have already fitted new headers and achieved a hp enhancement; likewise with cam change. LG Motorsports are the ones that stick in the mind; headers for $1200-1500 I think. Let me know if you think you may order and I may join you in that.
Out of interest, what does the red button to the left side of the steering wheel do?
It's either the ejector seat or the machine gun activation button I think.
Having a look at the pictures on GMs websites, I can't see any red button to the left of the wheel, and I don't remember seeing one when I sat in it, but I wasn't exactly memorizing the interior as I was too busy drooling and wishing time could pass quicker for the next 2 weeks...
I'll let you know on the exhausts.
Anyone going to Extreme Wheels show on Saturday?

Not sure if the C6 Z06 is the same as the C5 Z06 but that has an "H" pipe design rather than an "X" pipe design like the aftermarket magnaflow et al systems.
If you are going the turbos route then you will need turbo friendly short headers so buying a set of long tube headers would be a waste. However the LG long tube headers seem to be the best ones should you abandon the turbos route and just go for a milder upgrade option.
If you do decide on the turbos route please talk to me first as I have a lot of experience (not all of it good) with Z06's and turbos............
Also have you seen posting on here from Mr Tommo looking for a Z06 for a piece in Evo magazine?

cheeky said:Think of it as an opportunity to upgrade your clutch, brakes and tyres afterwards! I well remember Clarkson's face when they put the Stig in his own Merc!
When your car is featured in a mag or on TG do you get a new set of tyres and payment for any repairs needed or do you just get some fame for your car?
