Car originally supplied at £45K - OPC's just bought it back at £41.5K.

1000 mile example, 1 month old.

With my limited funds, I'd be mortified to pay £3.5K for a months usage, but when you break it down it's £116 or so per day (excluding insurance etc), which doesn't sound too bad, if considering the alternative of rental, which for a Cayman S (if you could find one to hire) might cost £200-£250 per day?

I posted the details as I thought it may be of some (albeit limited) interest to any Cayman S owners on the forum.

Cant believe I'm sticking up for OPC's here..... But, consider the 'new' cost of £45k - the dealer obviously has a margin etc - plus the fact that a large chunk of that money goes in vat and 10% car tax. How much do you think Porsche pay for their new Caymans - probably less than the 41.5k offered. I suspect the only reason the seller got such a reasonable price was that the OPC could turn the car around quickly - probably at under list - lets say £43k ish.

He did say 'supplied' at £45k - although I would expect your comment to be more 'par' for the course....!

I love the Cayman in fact it would be the only car in Porsche’s current line up (inc the future 997TT) that I would like, but it stumbles on price

When they hit £35k 2nd hand with goodies I’ll be picking one up or if they bring out a full fat version a la GT3 or supercharged.

I think we might see a price 're-alignment' when they introduce the non S version. Because it doesn’t appear to be selling all that well

still £43 grand for a low spec one isnt bad

I think you (or your friend) were lucky. Once the car has been available for a few months the loss on a one month turnround is more likely to be £5k, at least.

I think that's quite reassuring. If it was supplied at £45K then it would be little more than base spec so not the most desirable spec car to sell on. And frankly, who in their right mind sells a new car one month after they buy it? Sell it 3 months on and you'd probably make almost as much thereby reducing the daily depreciation figure by a huge amount.

As said, considering the tax element and the fact that a dealer is not a charity and will have to prepare the car and make a profit I think the offer was more than reasonable.

I also should say this is very fair.

Tom Hartley offered this under list for a spanking new C4S when they were still bringing a little over list.

Cayman at the moment seem to be available at list for anybody who cares to look around.

He has a point though!!

That's why I am interested in finding out why the car was sold back so quickly. Anyone buying a brand new car and keeping it for only a month is committing financial suicide. The story here is not the offer from the OPC it's the reason it went back to quickly.
