Replacing Wishbone Bushes

Well, after a brief spell with the 993TT it is now being sold - unfortunately I did not fall in love with it as I expected to. Back to Ferrari ownership for me am afraid! It went in today to an OPC for a full inspection - only really a couple of things stood out (apart from the usual "stone chipped porsche badge" etc they noted).

1. Leaking front diff - about £400 to fix - fair enough
2. Wishbone bushes split - quoted £750 to replace.

Now I know Porsche replace the entire wishbone, but am sure I have read people replace just the bushes. Is this a valid way of carrying out the work, or should the entire wishbone be replaced?

There was an article in Porsche and 911 world (a year or two ago) on doing this. Conclusion was that it was a legit and straight forward approach and that the full wishbone replacement was not necessary.

I'm in the same boat with my car, very much a swings and roundabouts situation (from a cost point of view). The poly bushes are only worthwhile if you're going to keep the car, as they're supposed to outlast the original Porsche ones considerably (may even last a lifetime ?)
Either way you'll need the geometry reset after fitting.
£750 does sound a bit steep as I believe the complete w/bones have come down in price to £170 each.
I'd say it's a good reason to get a cost off one of the good independants

Any idea how much a bush kit costs?

Parts will cost the same from the OPC or indi, and both charge around £200 for a full alignment. So (2 x £170) plus £200 = £540 without the labour. What, about an hour a side? So £700 for OPC, £640 for my indi, all plus the VAT of course.

I can't see a bush kit being more than about £100 versus £340 for new wishbones. Anybody know for sure?

Andy, I seem to remember someone saying that the removal of the existing bushes can be a bit of a 'mare. I got Steve Bull to quote me on doing the job using new w/bones and also doing it using poly bushes, the two came out within £20 of each other.
Using new wishbones he quoted £472 (hence my recommendation to go the indy route

Wishbones are £154.38 a piece and are about an hour to install and than £140.00 for an alignment.

The bushes are not that difficult to replace,if you are prepared to get a little dirty.
The bush kits are around £100.If you are putting new porsche ones on,spec the 993rs wishbones.
The set up should be just the castor,resetting.

Ref the bushes, they maybe easy for someone as adept on the spanners as you, but for the rest of us mere mortals it's probably a weekends worth of grunting and swearing
