Hi !!! I'm new on here and would be grateful if you could answer some questions I have.

I'm looking to order a new boxster in Jan. Spec is, or will be :

Boxster 2.7 in Silver
17" wheels
Air Con
Sound Pack
CD Storage
CD Changer
Wind Deflector
Computer.

Are there any other essential items that I have missed off ? I've read on some forums that leather is really required. The dealer told me that leather used to be required when cloth seats were standard, but the Alcantara and leatherette is fine now.

I am also interested in what the residual value of the above car will be in 3yrs time. I know its only a guestimate but that will do !! Do any of you have any ideas ?

I am looking to buy from Road Range in Liverpool. Does anyone have stories, either good or bad about this dealer ? The service that I have received from them thus far has been exemplary.

Already been out for a test drive and have to say the other cars that I took out on the same day (Audi TT (225) Roadster and Honda S2000) were not a patch on the Porsche.

Any comments gratefully received !!!

Hi Dave,
Consensus of opinion seems to be that the following are the 'Essentials':-

1. Wind Deflector.
2. Climate Control.
3. Sound Pack(or Bose)
4. Heated Seats
5. 17/18" Alloys

PSM is also seriously worth thinking about.

For residuals the dealer told me Silver,Blue,Black or Grey are the safest.Good luck.

Welcome to PH Dave.

I'd be a bit more decisive than Steve. PSM is a MUST HAVE OPTION from a safety point of view. Someone on this board recently admitted writing off a boxster without it.

No, no, no, don't you read the threads?

Go for 3.2 manual with sports suspension; delete traction control, hifi, leather, carpets, climate/air, sat nav, roof; have it painted in the loudest non-metalic you can find inside and out (speed yellow, rubystone, maritime blue); fit black cloth recaros & schroth harnesses; 18" GT3 wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsas; junk the exhaust & cams, fit headers, 100 cells & sports can, remap the dme, say 290bhp. Then go out and rediscover what open top sports cars are for.

Ooops, sorry, it appears that I am talking out of my RS again. Sorry folks, I'm just a little withdrawn from leaving old yella in the garage for too long.
