Best price for RMS replacement on a Tiptronic?

Looks like the RMS is leaking, I have a drip in the centre just behind the rear axle. I read in Porsche World (January issue)that there is a company who can put a new engine in for £500 if you have the right gear.
so far I've been quoted £700 + vat for my triptronic which apparently costs more than a manual to do. Anyone had a better price?

Is it definitely central, or offset towards one of the wheels? Could be a rocker box leak. It's probably not, but it could be.

Just had a call from the OPC. My 996 facelift 30.000 miles 2001 was in for a minor service. However the service manager called to say that there was a major problem. RMS leak and the tiptronic gearbox was leaking as well so the car is out of action for 10 days waiting for a new gearbox from Stuttgart. All in all a 7000 pounds repair job. All covered by the extended warranty but can not stress this enough - get the warranty guys.

If your car is MY2001 it isn't the face-lift version but nevertheless good you had the warranty

Good that it is covered by the warranty. I say again you GOT to run one of these with the proper warranty to avoid potential tears.

It was delivered in Nov 2001 and is MY2002 and hence a facelift just for the records. One of the first in the UK.

Must admit I've been very impressed with Specialist cars of Malton (Near York). Did the RMS repair in 1 day at a very competitive £519+vat provided a loan car, washed and cleaned the interior, engine also looks like new again. They also have some amazing cars in their showroom including a 996 GT2 RS with 650bhp!

RMS, I wish

I've just been quoted the best part of £1K to replace the oil breather tank? on my 996 C4 tip and that was an indie, not an OPC. An RMS failure would have been far less financially painful
