Anybody know the difference between and 996 turbo made from 05/2000 - 11/2001, and a 996 turbo made from 12/2001 onwards. I see on Parker's and Glass valuations they differentiate between the two.

Can anyone shed some light ... ?

Well, both of them are better than a GT3 on normal roads

Daz'll know. He'll be along in a second.

There are several differences, none exterior cosmetic.
In 2002 rain sensitive wipers, self rear dimming mirror, better plastics, cup holders & glove box became standard. In 2003 BOSE became standard.

Also I think some suspension settings were changed mid production, but don’t think this had any real positive or negative effect on the car.

Think you will find the 2002 onwards cars are values slightly higher due to the better standard spec.

Oh forgot - Sat Nav became standard 2003 onwards I believe too - would have thought that while this probably makes little difference to the second hand prices as such, these cars are more desirable, nudging the prices up.

Everything rumplestiltskin said is spot on IMHO.

Another important thing to consider though is that the "Model Year" is not the same as the calendar year. Eg I think the change over is around about Septemberish, So one of the sample dates, 05/2000 - 11/2001 will straddle Model years 2000/2001/2002.

Be aware the trade will try and knock down trade ins without the factory satnav option, although I prefer the car without it, as current portable units are technically far superior and cheaply upgradable. Also be mindful that as cars with the factory satnav screen go out of warranty they would be far more expensive to replace than just putting another Becker CD radio in the DIN slot.

I know they are a wonderfully capable car (having had the pleasure of a ride in one around Silverstone) but I just found myself laughing at the trivial and banal nature of these huge upgrades

Sorry I'll shut up now

Bose became standard in the 2002 model year, i.e., those built after August 2001, not in 2003 as mentioned above.
Also the chassis is supposed to have received some of the same improvements in stiffness as the 2002 996 Carreras did.

Just had my test drive.. the dealer let me out for 1-1/2 hours with the car... solo!!! immense fun (and it fits in my garage)... SOLD!
Deposit paid .. waiting with baited breath on Porsche inspection.

The car...
2001 996 TT in basalt black, 16,400 miles (Checked and genuine!), PCM, special leather.

Quicker but quieter than my old Griffith ... anyone got a recommendation on sports exhaust (Tubi?)
