Go to google video and type in "Lotus Elise Forcefed 400hp".

I'm not normally one to laugh at other people's lack of ability, but this beggars belief!

enjoy!

On second thoughts, the owner of this car may well be on this forum. Oh well - if he is then I apologise!

I didn't think it looked too bad considering ...

Looks like he was absolutely going for it and just ran slightly wide out of one corner. Was it at a sprint?

I hope you're joking!

I showed this to a friend of mine and his comment was "looks like he's steering with a piece of rope and hitting the pedals with a plank of wood".

Not the smoothest bit of driving I've ever seen granted, but it didn't look like stupidity that caused the spin, just over exuberance after a bit of a cock up on the brakes.

Bet he won't do it again

I think that's the roughest driving I've ever seen basically. It looked like he was trying to lose control of the car!!

seems a bit busy in the cockpit, what is the engine in that thing?

I admit that it's not the greatest in the world, but to be fair it looks as though he's struggling for grip most of the time which I guess you would be with 400hp! Looks good fun though!

For the most part it looks as though he is actually trying to unsettle the car which I have done myself on the odd occassion and where conditions allow! Although please note that I have never spun!

Given more skill/experience or practice he could have driven a lot smoother and gone much quicker as a result. But sometimes you don't have that luxury and just have to take the car by the scruff of the neck, learning how much grip there is as you go. It did look very ragged, but that probably just means he was trying very hard without enough opportunity to practice first. The car did look a bit of a handful and I bet he had huge fun doing that, I'm envious!

I didn't think it looked too bad considering ... [sorry, got the flu and forgetting to finish thinbgs] ... the car looks horribly over powered on a really poor/unsuitable suspension setup and the chap is struggling; reminds me of my time in a Chimaera.

Funny way of dong it! I've sat with a lot of people over the years but I think that's the poorest driving I've seen yet.

Wheel spin in every gear.

Anyone want to buy a set of tyres? Only used once.

Mmm,

Little hard to judge, don't know who the driver is but he was clearly being kept very busy!

Think the guy was doing ok seeing as he had over 500bhp/tonne to play with on a very twisty section of track.

Little harsh I think - I think he did well keeping the damn thing wheel side down!

Personally, I think he was keeping himself busy, rather than the car keeping him busy!

Looking at that vid it just shows that too much power in a great car just makes for a nightmare. just look at the nose diving and rising with every prod of the peddle. its a wonder he had any grip to steer with.
I reckon he did a pretty good job to only spin once on that track.

I think that the Elise chassis should be able to handle it. It'd be interesting to chat to Walshy when he's got the V8 on board - he'll have that sort of power/weight, if not more. I can garauntee you that in car with him won't look anything like that.

The only cars that I've driven that I can really compare that too are the Noble M400 I drove at Bedford Autodrome last year, and the Caterham Superlight R (both around 400bhp/tonne). Neither car troubled me, or any other driver I've known who's driven or owned them, at all. That's not a comment on my driving or their driving, moreso on the cars. 435bhp in a car that weighs a tonne (The M400, and what you've got in that Elise too) just isn't a massive handful. I've watched in car in tuned F40s and mad 911 turbos, and nothing that I've seen has been that messy. It is 100% the driver. I do believe that the Elise chassis can handle it, but obviously with a small capacity engine the boost will be very high so when the turbo kicks in it will be kinda hairy! However, I drove my Caterham in the wet many times and sure, if you were even slightly rough you'd probably have spun within seconds. The truth is, that guy is just being very rough with the car - and cars don't like that - especially Elises!

If you watch his driving he is being very rough with all the controls and operating them in completely the wrong way. Sure - when the boost comes in it is causing power oversteer, but he's so violent with steering and throttle he's causing most of it. I'm pretty confident that if you put a half decent driver in that car it would be a fairly relaxed affair.
