Sailing in Croatia was fantastic; just the right mix of nice people on the flotilla, nice food in the evenings, relaxed during the day and a bit of culture in Dubrovnic.
Walking in Morocco, in the Jebel Sahro mountain region was amazing.
ETA: if you want more info on either let me know

Australia, in particular Kalibari and shark bay north of Perth, saw wild dolphins, the actually come right up to you in the bay about a foot away from you, amazing. Ayres rock is pretty amazing too, I know its just a rock but if you go and watch the sun rise over it, its fanatastic, the colour changes from a dull brown to a bright orange.

Tehran, might want to take a look before it gets wiped out
you may not believe it but it actually used to be one of the "prized" ex-pat work destinations in the late 70's, ( before the mad-mullahs and ayatollahs took over ).....when I had just left Uni. (80's) many of my older work colleagues had lived there and loved it .... but they all had to leave "sharpish" when the funda-mentalist-loony-tunes came into power in 1979. they had about 2 days to leave
