Bought a cd this week and having had the chance to listen to it I think it's a bit crap. I don't have the receipt etc. Would a shop do me an exchange?

Depends how much of a sucker they are, they're a shop not a library!

Swap a mate for something?

I've taken a few back in my time - stores like HMV and Virgin don't have a problem with it, even without a receipt if you exchange it for something else

Recently, I've found that shops won't take CDs back, even with a receipt because of music being ripped off.
