Hi all.

Inspired by using the wedge commute last week, I finally got a replacement fuel accumulator to try and sort the hot starting.

In an unprecedent fit of common sense I thought I'd have a quick check of the current installation before diving straight in pulling the car apart. It turns out that the accumulator currently fitted is different to it's replacement. The replacement has 2 connectors 1 in and 1 out, however the original has 3. Most of the diagrams I've seen only show the 2 connector version, but at the end of the Capri club technical feature there is a small fuel system diagram showing the 3 connector version. The 3rd connector goes to the fuel tank (additional to the fuel feed and return lines).

If I fit the replacement and just shut off the extra fuel tank pipe will it make any difference. I'm not sure what the pipe is for? My best guesses so far are that it either deals with any fuel gets past the accumulator diaphram, or it balances the pressure on the other side of the accumulator to the tank pressure.

Any ideas/wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks

Todd
