I suspect many people on here may scoff at the idea of filling a GT3 with ICE, but weight added was only about 20kg and the difference in the sound was astonishing!

Whats this forum's strap line - Speed matters.
Not fecking pimping up your ride, or adding sh1t loads of ICE. If you want to do that to a 911, get a Cab.

Oh we have done that too!

I personally can appreciate what you are saying and had no ICE in my track M3, but many customers use cars like these on a daily basis and want a car that ticks all of the boxes.
The audio install makes such a small difference to the performance and handling (few percent if that) that in the real world, the cars are still very fast, but now can keep the owners happy when sat on the M25 for hours..
20kg - yes, the kit isn't actually *that* heavy and with extensive use of fibreglass rather than MDF weight can be kept right down.

Wow! That is some impressive install... Very nice workmanship - no doubt a quality install....
Thing is, with so much noise going on inside a GT3 you can gain masses just by changing the speakers to better quality. I cannot see the point of chucking in all that weight into that sort of car for what is essentially a major compromise of 'hi fi' sound anyway....
I prefer watching/listening to film/music at home in a 'proper' environment on a quality system and just enjoying the 6 piece orchestra in the car....
Cheers guys!!
This post wasn't intended as advertising, more to ilicit some discussion on the ICE in performance cars debate. I have never had large systems in my performance cars, but dozens of our customers do, and I thought it would be of interest!
I personally think the weight issue gets blown out of all proportion - my lightweight M3 felt no different with my wife in the passenger seat, and she weighs more than most of our installs, and the GT3 is hardly a Caterham is it!
The two largest GT3 installs we have done have both been in fettled examples so their performance after the install is invariably still better than that of a standard GT3. We do more turbos and cabs to be fair, but I knew the GT3s would get the best reactions!!

Looks like a quality install to me
Credit to Chris for making the install as light as possible - no credit to the guy having the ICE put in the car
Lets face it, Chris does this for a living, so he's hardly going to turn people away on the premise that they've got a focussed drivers car... at least he's done a quality job and has seemed to make the effort to make it as light as the budget and requirements permit.
Personally, I'm thinking of ripping out the stereo and speakers in my 968 CS to save a few KG...but that's a different story
