ALARM PROBLEM.....HELP!

Battery went flat a couple of weeks back and i got into the car using the `usual` meathod so i could connect the charger. As soon as the charger was connected the alarm went off as expected but the key fob won`t switch the alarm off. The alarm re-arms after a short while once the door is shut but the doors are not locked and the bleeper doesn`t operate the alarm or lock the doors. The batteries in it were replaced in May but i changed them again just in case but to no effect. Any ideas short of a call out to an alarm specialist?.........Martin

Try disconnecting the car battery and then reconnect and use your alarm remote within 60 seconds to reset the remote with your car

Turned out to be nothing more than a relay with a poor connection on it, a little bit of wriggling about and the problem was sorted! In case anyone has a similar problem the relay was silver with a painted red line through it...........Martin

Ok i still have the alarm problem, layed the car up for the winter and the battery has gone flat a couple of times despite it being charged regularly. The alarm is set but the doors are not locked and the remote seems to have no effect (i`ve replaced the batteries in the fob),it won`t lock the doors or turn the alarm off, the immobiliser is also on so i can`t start the car I replaced the battery for a new one last week and that has gone flat after a week and a half. I was hoping that replacing the battery would reset the alarm but no joy, the previous `fix` with the relay hasn`t helped either, my car is a 95 500..........any advice appreciated...........Martin

Sorted, followed another thread & disconected the battery AND operated the remote within 5 secs and hey presto!.........Martin
