Claire,

I am trying to ask the factory a few technical questions but the tech departments phone is always on answerphone.

Is there anyone there that I can email who is likely to have an internet account/be able to respond?

They are just a few questions about aerodynamics, not after any trade secrets, just wondering why no production tvr's seem to have flat floors. I suspect it is a heat issue but would mind talking to someone who might have tried it (maybe on a cerb or T350 for example).

Any aero engineers on here are welcome to contribute (and intimate that I am silly for even contemplating this )

This isn't a customer service issue, I am perfectly happy with my cerbera, just interested. If they don't fancy answering any questions then that is fair enough.

Cheers

Rob.

I think it depends who you get to speak to - when you do actually get someone on the line.

I was lucky enough to get to speak to someone at the factory recently who was clearly an enthusiast. He went to some trouble to help me out - called me back when he said he would etc etc.. TVR derived precisely zero revenue from this directly (but it made a TVR customer happy and therefore more inclined to stay with the marque).

Any company's management have a difficult balance to achieve in providing good customer service with efficiency and mounting costs. Thus I can see that TVR management could frown upon the time this chap spent helping me - which is why I will not name him on this forum.

Its a difficult one. I would persevere - when you do get to speak to someone you will quickly be able to gauge if they are willing or able to help you out. It took me a few calls to get to speak to my chap - but I was really chuffed with him and his help when I did get through to him.

heat was an issue with the very first cerbies .. they caught fire! the chassis closing plate under the centre of the car was without the later vent holes, the heat from the cats killed the rear gearbox seal which promptly emptied oil onto said hot cats .. results were not pretty

The factory closes early for the weekend.

I will try and get Dad on Monday and ask...its a bit mental up there at the moment getting the first of the T350's out.

Didn't christof's beast have a rear splitter on it? - you might want to drop him a line...

Thanks claire.

Craig,

Yes christof's cerbie had a front splitter and a rear diffuser on. I don't believe it had a flat floor on it though. This, I believe, will stop the diffuser working properly (or possibly at all).

Well, you're wrong.

It's much more stable now as before.

And I know what I'm telling, because we have no speed limits over here.

Hmmm,

At the risk of being pedantic have you tried it with the rear diffuser on its own. I suspect at least some of the effects you feel are due to the front splitter and side skirts.

Not slagging off your car christof (which I think is great) but I can't help thinking it would be even better with a flat underside

After all it doesn't do the ferrari 355/360 any harm...

The first step of the aerodynamic kit was the diffuser only and it was a big improve on high speed stability.

It definately makes the rear more stable, but the increase of downforce won't be as good as with a flat underfloor.

If you drive behind my car in rain you can see the airflow through the diffuser and it looks pretty impressive, very smooth and stable.

I will see what we can do with my next beastie, the mighty T 400C. We currently thinking of some mods.

On the wishlist are : adjustable frontskirt, sideskirts, which are very effective and an improved rear diffuser to fit a different exhaust system and an adjustable rear spoiler similar to the T440R racecar

Sounds interesting.

My thoughts were more directed toward the T***C because they appear to have done some aero development with this car and it would be a shame not to maximise this. I would guess they will have to look at this for GT racing anyway.

T400C? So 400 bhp it is then Can't wait to see the first few off the production line, or yours with the aero mods...

Too bad TVR doesn't give the same personal attention to all their dedicated customers as they do with Chirstof (can't wait to see your new 'toy'). At least the security guard remembers me when I'm visit the factory
