Theoretical lane question
Discussion
Imagine, if you can, cruising along a quiet four-lane stretch of motorway early one morning. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and no one's getting in your way. Yes, I know it's hard to imagine, but let's pretend for a minute.
You're wafting along at an indicated 95mph, which you reckon is probably more like 90mph. A dozen or so car-lengths in front of you, a people carrier is doing roughly the same speed. The only difference is you're using 'correct' lane discipline, rarely leaving lanes one or two, while the people carrier is happily sitting in lane four, occasionally moving into three if he fancies a change of scenery.
The question is: who, if anyone, does Plod pull over?
By the way, this is only a theoretical situation that I pictured on yesterday's 600-mile motorway journey. I decided it would probably depend on what you were driving.

trefor said: Hope you pased said MPV in lane 1/2 as he was obviously travelling in a slower line of (in his mind) traffic.
Nope, didn't pass him. Did consider it, but his car seemed to have some kind of invisible forcefield all around it that kept it a fair distance in front of me, no matter how fast I went (I was in a Mondeo). You don't think he was trying to stop anyone getting past, do you?
Any BIBs care to comment on the lane question? I'd feel more comfortable if the MPV driver got pulled, but if I'm the one they catch first... That means it's better to go much faster and get in front.
