I booked my ticket directly with Emirates.

Since then I have had to cancel it due to Dads illness, they have put it on hold for a year till I know whats going on, they offered me a full refund at any time.

Cant say fairer than that.

Use www.ba.com They are the best and code share with Qantas. Book on line to get the best deal.

i went to Aus with emirates at christmas, and on the whole, they are pretty good.

Do make sure though that you only have one stop. (usually Dubai with them)

We made the mistake of booking a flight that changed at dubai, then refuelled at Bangkok.

It can add 3-4 hours onto an already killer- length flight.

Beautiful country though.

Emirates do have a great in flight entertainment system which has about 500 channels and you can pause /rewind

movies at your convenience.

Cheapest flights tend to go through Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

If you're looking for the quickest flight to Sydney, I think Qantas QF31/QF32 through Singapore is about the best - 22hrs each way. Have used this one a few times and the longest stopover at Singapore was 55mins...

And I've always found BA staff to have their head so far up their Aris its not funny. Qantas staff usually OK.

Have a look also at Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong, or JAL through Tokyo/Osaka

BA were particularly unpleasant both in staff and quality of service when I flew to Australia.
Apparently Qantas are good and Singapore Airlines do a good service (you pay extra though!)

Try Malaysia Airlines, or Singapore Airlines, good prices I think, and one stop over along the way.
try ebookers.com.
Qantas lost my bags when flying from Aus to UK, so not recommending them!

Just flown out to Brisbane and back from Sydney with Singapore Airlines. Not the cheapest, but very good service.

One word of warning though - we flew out on a newish Airbus, which had planty of room, and back on a right old shed of a 747-400, which was like being freight... Singapore Airlines show on the site which planes fly which routes.

I'd avoid BA personally, unless you were going first class, they are fairly crap IMO, QANTAS is a bit better but not by a huge amount.

Singapore and Malaysia are pretty good, I actually went with Austrian last time which is a new service and only a tenner more than QANTAS (who are usually cheapest) the downside being you have to go through Vienna and there is a stop in Singapore (only 20mins) so the flight drags forever, on the plus side they aren't as popular and I got the whole row of 3 seats to myself on a fairly new 777 rather than an old 747 crate, food was actually pretty good as well (to my suprise they actually had a chef with funny hat and all onboard!).
