Hi

does anybody out there know if TVR produced a wedge with an automatic gear box ? My mate recently suffered the loss of his leg following motorbike accident and he likes the look of my 350i and is keen to get his hands on one ! regards Dave

a couple of years ago i helped pistolar convert a 350 to auto for a friend that lost an arm in a bike accident it was for sale last year speak to pitolar he may be able to help find it

There were 2 450SE's produced for a Middle Eastern buyer, which I believe had similar specs: LHD, A/C and a trick U.S. sourced auto box (not a slush box either). The one I know and have driven is owned by a friend of mine, and IIRC the 'box alone cost c. £10K. Drives very well too. The other one seems to have disappeared - I've not seen it or heard of it for about 10 yrs.

I know a guy with a 280i which had/has (he is fitting a cosworth engine) an automatic... LHD car, think it was an american car with the different front bumper and sills, great looking car.

The 350 that barrington mentioned was dark blue and i think the registration was c777wlt. Modification is not difficult

Thought they made 3 or 4 Wedge autos from the factory,were they called 430 se?

The Borg Warner box used in the P6 is the same length as the LT77 so assuming the width is OK should go in no problems. You'll need to alter the thin flywheel cover plate to cover the clutch slave cylinder hole.

Other than that it should just slip in there. Obviously you'll have to make up a nice shift lever console for the top side.

I know one 430se owner in the Netherlands who has a manual..... I believe the 430's were one of the last wedges to be produced and were fitted with the 4.3 from a griff.

Have definately seen a red 280 wedge with auto box, had a chat with the owner and he said that it was built for the American market but due to import duty problems it sat at the docks for quite a while before being taken back to the factory and converted back to UK spec (RHD?)

That's my old car, it's a manual. That must be a miss print. That actual car is featured very heavily on www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk as it belonged to Mike Bressington "mikeb" on here. He owns and runs the site. The car is also on the Autotrader web site at the mo for £4995.

My 1981 280 FHC was originally an auto, now converted to 5 speed. I have seen a couple of other 280s with autos.

Re wedge auto, there was one on ebay last week. a convertible auto with power steering. its not the best but looks ok I was going to buy it to rob the steering. dont think it sold. item number 4623692255 have a look on comp listings
