Alloy Wheel Coating

Hey guys,
I will get some pictures up tomorrow, but just wanted your opinions. The silver coating is coming off on one of the wheel spokes revealing a black/dark grey underneath. Not sure if this is due to someone using a wrong cleaner on it or not (certainly not me!). It is now fairly brittle and flakes away quite easy
I just wondered if a) anyone else has seen this and b) if this is something that can get fixed under warranty?
For Info it is a 2005 VXR.
