At my school we only had one girls rugby lesson in Year 11. Our girls games teacher was away and one of the boys games teachers couldnt be bothered to play hockey so thought he'd teach us some rugby! Was fun, but I'll stick to watching nowadays!

me and my mate used to rub a bit of mud into our knees before the game started and then just hang around on the sidelines discussing the relative merits of the E30 M3 and the 190 Cosworth

you have to advance ten yards to keep the ball, you get 4 shots at doing it then you lose the ball if you dont make ten yards, each attempt is called a down. if you manage to advance ten yards you get another 4 downs to advance a further 4 yards. Bloody stupid boring game, thats needlessly complicated and each team effectively has 2 teams for attacking and defending. The worst bit about it is that you can be a total fat lard arse and still play in defense as all you have to do for the whole game is run into somebody else.

Steelers are turning it on now. That 75 yard run was quite something!

Good game so far...even if my beloved Patriots aren't involved this year. Steelers will win. AFC for life!

Having played both rugby and american football I can honestly say they are about even on the whole 'toughness' thing...sure they are padded, but if a pad hits an unpadded area the pain you feel will be quite a bit more than it would have been if not playing padded...pads are weapons...also you can tackle above the waist, so really it's swings and roundabouts.

In my experience the 'what a bunch of pussies' argument is normally made by people who have little to no experience of the sport.

it's the whole stop start thing that turns it into something a bit dull... If it was frenetic constant play it would be a different kettle of fish.

Thought last year was a bit one sided, but I'm Pats fan so I wasn't complaining!

That was the worst horse-feces officiating I have ever seen. Forget the Steelers. Damn them to hell. May they forever finish below the Browns. I've never seen officiating more fixed. No way in hell was Hasselbeck supposed to be called for that "Block below the waist" - the penalty doesn't apply if the blocker tackles the ballcarrier. No way in hell was that offensive pass interference on Darrell Jackson - he didn't even make contact with the cornerback. No way in hell was Roethlisberger in on that touchdown. The ball was clearly behind his shoulder, which was behind the line.

The only reason Seattle isn't burning tonight is that it's too wet to sustain flame. That was the worst Super Bowl I have ever watched and the National Football League has some serious officiating problems on its hands.

You can take the pads off of those guys(any team, including college level) and put them against any English Rugby team. Sorry guys, I love you...but it's light out for the rugby team Absolute monsters that move VERY quickly. As was said, if you have not been with them, don't even go there!
