I'm tempted to go on a bit of an amazon marketplace rampage.

I'll give anything a try (currently have a small pile by the CD player consisting of Polar Bear, Deftones, London Elektricity, Vector Lovers, Jimi Hendrix, My Vitriol, The Dead 60s, Thelonious Monk Quartet, Led Zep and Steel Pulse)!

Arcade Fire - Funeral (strings-backed indie, excellent stuff)
Fall Out Boy - From Under the Cork Tree (a bit like a matured Blink-182, emoish but good pop/post-punk)
The Strokes - First Impressions Of Earth (maybe not as good as the first two, but worth a listen)
Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyze (some truly amazing tracks mixed in with some utter tosh)
Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger (album of 2005)
Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers (relatively unknown, reminiscent of Smash Mouth and other American pop/rock bands. Stacey's Mom is great fun.)
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism (just good.)
Jose Gonsalez - (whatever the new album's called) (haven't heard anything but the single, but it's supposed to be excellent relaxing singer/songwriter stuff.)

I'll take this opportunity to, again, recommend White Stripes - Get Behind me Satan. Given that list you had, you'll like this.

Bloody hell - someone else who's heard of My Vitriol!

Shame they just did the one album (basically).

I know I've harped on about them before but you should check out Biffy Clyro. Last album is a bit dense and maniacal but the first two "Blackened Sky" and "Vertigo Of Bliss" are just scorchers.

They've also got some new live tracks on their My Space site; www.myspace.com/biffyclyro

Veneer.

And it's bloody good. I don't usually go in for that "singer/songwriter" type stuff but old Jose has a bit of an edge to his sound.

Carol (I think... bass player) from My Vitriol used to work in Guitar City...

The guitarist in my current band used to work with her. Finelines is a superb album, I must say.

As for Biffy, I am indeed a fan of the Scottish trio.

My current favourites are:

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream. This probably my favourite album ever.
Live - Mental Jewelry. A very very good early album by Live - my favourite in fact.
Vivaldi - The Four Seasons (Nigel Kennedy) - classic recording of this amazing piece of music.
Beethoven - Symphony number 9 - Karajan. I'm not that keen on Karajan, but this is the only CD I have lying around. Awesome music.
Seven - their current demo. (sorry, had to get a plug in for my band!).

No CD collection should be without this album!

I vaguely remember owning an Eat Static CD a long time ago... If I remember correctly they specialise in D&B with big, ambient sounding pads and fuzzy rolling basslines?

The earlier stuff isnt D&B (I'm no fan of D&B) but worth a listen.

Thinking about it.

Go and buy

Dimitri From Paris - Live @ The Playboy Mansion.

Its lush...

Maaaan, have you ever properly listened to Jimmy's drumming on this album? From the first track, right through to the end he IS a human metronome.

It's scarily good. I like the Pumpkins but Billy's voice gets on my nerves a bit.

He is an absolute God. Easily my favourite drummer, and one of my favourite musicians ever. Quite often, the drums play a riff of their own (for instance in Mayonnaise), or follow the instruments perfectly (Geek USA for instance). Incredible. I listen to and play a lot of music but this guy has to have the best drumming out there by a country mile! Have you heard his snare that he uses live? It's like a gunshot!
