Don't know if it just the weather / dark mornings etc, but I'm getting sick of the elise.. Blinded by everyone's lights, freezing cold until the heater warms up the car after twenty mins. (journey to work takes 25!) Sick of the rattles as well, a new one every day! The noisy diesel sounding engine.. Crap dealers.. Did I mention rattles..

Moan over.. Lets hope for a heatwave..

Might be dull and grey, but it hasn't rained for ages. I find taking the roof off lets out all the nasty noises and enhances the Hurricane and Zorst soundtrack, oh, and if you start the car whilst taking the roof off the heater gets a headstart before you drive off.

That heater issue, is that a K-series thing? or also the same with the yota engine?? because I hate cold but I can do without radio and luxery stuff but the heater must work good! and within 5 min please...as I used too in the "normal" cars, I like to have a relaxt on my face and not a bitter cold and get more rimpless on my face
Otherwise I have to redisign the heater system to work as "fast" as the Elise/Exige looks
GTRene

Just found this; www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elise/information/technical/hvac.html
it says works fast? anyone can comment on this? how fast is your Elise/Exige S2 working, I mean how fast in the winter to feel a bit heat from the heater...and does it works good? even for the passengers?

Well I have been away in Cape Town in 33+ degree heat (38 today). Away from my 111s for a week. Drove my old M3 today. Feels wallowy and slow off the mark. I miss my car, I want cool weather. I am looking forward to being back on Wednesday.

Then again - dry weather forecast for Silverstone LOT day on friday.

the heater is rubbish on std K engined cars...on the S2111S with aircon (HVAC) and later Toyota cars it is much improved, gets hotter, has a fan that works and aircon too....well worth having if you use the car daily

Thanks bogie, I was hoping that answer came out, also I read in the article then under full throttle the HVAC shuts down on that moment to get maximum performance?! hm...maybe that means half of the time its out when in use

Fast Facts on the HVAC
>>Installation only will increase the vehicle mass by 15kg.
>>>To preserve the performance of the vehicle, the HVAC system "turns off" automatically when it senses the throttle is fully open.
>>The dash features four additional face level vents that can deliver hot or cold air, and also has a new center console to house two of these vents and some of the system controls. >>The dash will only feature in cars equipped with HVAC.
>>HVAC has passed all industry testing along with Lotus' in-house test criteria for efficiency and durability.
>>>The heater used in a HVAC car is more efficient and powerful than a non-HVAC car.
>>HVAC is completely unique to the Elise apart from the face level vents.
>The recommended selling price of HVAC is 1295 pounds including VAT

I'll vouch for that, mine's not bad at all. Probably takes 5-10 mins to get warm.
SJA, good luck with the Boxster. You're either into the Elise or not, perhaps you're not? I hope that when the weather gets better you'll change your mind. I don't think you can feel the same driving a Boxster as you can an Elise, both are decent cars but when I get in my Elise I feel like I'm wearing it, and feel very special when I get out of it (mainly cos I've gone deaf from my Larini)

Im into it ok, just getting out of it is the pain

Nah I'm not into boxsters, just having a moan today! Got new seat (under warranty) and its rattling / creaking like mad. Loathe to go back to
dealers again as they seem to roll their eyes when I pull up..

In this weather just fancy a bit of comfort.. But hey summers on its way!!

Getting out when its cold and your bone's are stiff(from cold and old?) is not a joy, and when other things not worrked out yet to get a better ride it can be to much at some point, but.....the summer is comming, keep yourself bussy with some update's on your Lotus to keep you happy til summer arive's and join the Lotus on the Ring day in Germany between end april till end august? try to set some date's on the Ring thread when summer come's more in sight

Try to Google your car "problems" there is a lot around on the rattle things and most things can be sorted out, when winter driving you don't have that much joy and your body resistend system is going down so you get easely upset about things in your car that is not perfect! but in summer you enjoy more from the Lotus and your system feels better to take all the little things you don't like or could be better...take a big winter sleep like bears do? and wake up in summer and drive and drive and

If you can, leave the car alone for a week or two. Don't let the battery run flat, but just don't drive it.

Then go back to it on a crisp, sunny winter morning and rag it's little ass off. I guarantee you'll be in love again.

I did exactly this before Xmas, got well pissed off with it, then it snowed and I couldn't drive it much, then I went on holiday for a week, and away for another week with work. Then I took it to North Weald and realised what a fantastic little car I have and there's no way I'm selling it at the moment unless I get very lucky on the lottery!

The heater in my S2 111S is fine. Warm after 5 minutes.

Maybe I'm lucky.

Last time I saw a mask like that was in a chinees (action) Ninja movie...when I think of that, that could also fit to Lotus with a honda conversion...Honda-Ninja(bike name) Lotus Elise/honda
