Bar the true loons, I'm sure most of them will grow out of it but they painted a pitiful picture of moronic delusion.
The 'debate' afterwards was interesting because as ever, it demonstrated a common tendancy by the media to effectively rubbish any 'uncomfortable' discussion as to the validity or otherwise of predominantly white, north european genealogies whilst conveniently paying scant regard to the perennial, contemporary zeitgeist which perpetually extends such analysis in the direction of other peoples, even when, via the cultural debaser supreme of rap, etc, there exists a perfectly viable target for socio-economic comentators to attack ito general bigotry, violence and absolutely no idea about the lamentable dearth of British gentility.
Invariably, the BNP are villified because of what they are rather than a particular question they are addressing being effectively discussed. "You're a bunch of nazis, aren't you?" They may well be but that doesn't diminish the need to address part of what they are saying.
One of the debaters said that banning the BNP wasn't the answer, it would merely drive them underground were they would ferment into something altogether more significant. He was right.
However, he added that allowing them the 'oxygen of exposure/publicity' would expose their real, ugly agenda and again, he's probably correct except for the extent of zeal with which the BNP's detractors attack their very being, often totally missing the question.
So all you get is a statement of the bleedin' obvious, that the BNP are nazis (again) but no actual debate proper.
Thus, people asking the question "where does the white man fit into all this?" either find the question completely bypassed, obfuscated by exposure to some vitriolic tirade about historical melting pots or simply dismissed as a crackpot supporter of the Reigate KKK.
Which is all very well but don't be too surprised when the BNP's million votes is suddenly three, then five...then, oops, Jean-Marie Le Penn-Smythe.
It was from a seed as tenuous as this that Hitler's plague evolved.
