It seems that the pressure reg on the Griff has failed (hence why we were stuck in Southampton instead of visiting Virginia Water on Sunday )

I suspect the failure hasn't done the pump any favours so would it be worth considering an upgrade to the pump? (considering the plans for the rest of the car it might be an idea...) If so, what sort of upgrade is available?

I've got a spare aftermarket pressure reg from the old Impreza that will work with a couple of adaptor pieces. It'll be under low stress, since I'll only be asking it to run between approx 2.8 and 3.8 bar (not 3 to 5+ bar like on the Impreza...)

I thought also about parallel feeding 2 separate rails (again like on my Impreza) as I don't want pressure drops from my new fire extinguisher size injectors... Worth doing for the small extra cost?

not really dave,

you'll need a new reg (as the std one is not adjustable) when putting in bigger injectors, but the std fuel pump and rail should cope fine. mine did. we used a webber reg, webber inj.

I run two competition spec pumps in parallel for the 520SE and that keeps up with the fire hose I have. They are paralleled up and provide a single feed to the pressure regulator. I also have a fuel pressure gugae and warning light so if the pressure drops I know about it. One of the causes I have found is surge on corners and so I made a 2 litre surge pot that seems to have solved the problem. Both are switchable so I can turn the pumps off and turn it over if the engine floods. Quite handy I must admit.
