Deceptive aerial photos by Olivio Barbieri. Love the "miniature" effect he manages....

Its either photoshoped or something like a lensbaby.
Look at(especialy) the first one, the out of focus blur is circular around the center, a true lense would be liniar and gradiented away from the point of focus right?
There is no Photoshop work here. As the photographer says in the link in the first post, it is a tilt-shift lens. You can control the depth of field, in terms of both actual depth and the direction of the plane of focus, very accurately with these. Think of it as a lensbaby with precise, repeatable control and excellent quality glass.
Look at the bottom picture here, but think of it as the other way around - instead of using the forwards tilt to obtain extreme depth of field, you could clearly tilt it backwards to obtain very shallow depth of field.
His exhibition is coming to London soon too:

If you want to know how to do this in Photoshop have a look here - http://recedinghairline.co.uk/tutoria
I would have thought that even with a tiltshift lens, the distance from subject would have had more dof than this. I would have thought also that due to the amount of light the lens must have been stopped down a bit which gives even more dof.
Just looks too false to me, in fact it looks like Google Earth when you move the plane.

Simpo Two, Wivenhoe, in fact Old Wivenhoe Quay - amazing, when did you take that picture, I live there, well just around the corner in the dry dock - if you've been there recently you'll know it's very dry as it's sprung a leak.
wolves_wanderer - excellent pictures, really capture the technique, I especially like wembley stadium.

Doesn't work as well as the others IMHO, I think this effect looks better with smaller buildings and more stuff in the frame.
Yep, I agree. It definitely looks best on aerial shots - this is a nice bay I made with sawdust and foam rubber painted green:

BING! Double Word Score!
Yesterday! I noticed the 'dry dock' and thought it had been drained so little kids couldn't fall in and drown. Have to say a nice piece of grass would look nicer, no?
