'Man flu' is much more serious than 'Bird Flu' obviously you need lots of sympathy, all available 'flu strength' beechams remedies, plus a whiksy or too and chicken soup. You might pull through by the end of the month.

now, anyone want to give a serious answer? Started feeling sh1te Sunday night but today full on thick head, bloodshot sore eyes, headache etc etc. Not wanting the PH sympathy vote or I would have posted a "I've just been going out with someone for almost a week and am going to slit my wrists as they have dumped me" thread...

just want to know how long it lasts. Thank you.

Mean but

Hey I was serious anyway.... chicken soup, and a couple of whiskies before bed. Those beechams things are okay but they just mask the symptoms, you just have to let the bugger run it's course.

Oh and drink plenty of fluid ( preferably not all alcoholic )

I find the following helps:

Get a jar of Cayenne pepper from your local supermarket.

Boil the kettle.

Place a large teaspoon of said pepper in a mug and add the boiling water.

Drink as required!

Now some of you may be be very sceptical of this but I read about this remedy in a Sunday supplement and thought I'd give it a try. It makes you sweat like by and makes you wonder why the hell you're subjecting your body to this vile concoction but it worked for me. Your symptoms won't disappear over night but you should feel a lot better in the morning.

If you don't like the idea of drinking it like this add it to some tomato soup. You'll soon be sweating that bad ol' man flu out!

Dunno, don't get it, but the 'bird' flu I had last week lasted a week, got rid of it by staying in bed for a couple of days, lots of beechams/lempsip things, and whiskey!

Drink lots of fluids!!

bloodshot sore eyes...

They were already like that on Sunday!

I'm sure there's an old saying along the lines of a cold takes a week to come and a week to go, or something like that. Bearing in mind flu' is worse than a cold I guess your eyes will remain bloodshot for a while yet.

You should rest, keep warm and drink plenty of water. Viruses don't like hydrated bodies! I'll be around to do the cleaning later and I can provide my own moisturiser if necessary...

Going on about a week or so 'till you feel up to it. Longer if you do stupid things like work out in the freezing cold on your car with a fever (I speak from experience).

Get plenty of water down you: Hot water + 1/2 pressed lemon and Tea spoonful of hone and couple of paracetamols will make you feel a whole lot better. Also keep some of those Lem Sip directs next to your bed for night time. That way you can take one in the middle of the night if you are getting shivers etc. Taste like but they do work.
