Any recommendations?

I was going to go with these guys - www.biltong.co.uk/index.html

I need it for a camping expedition at the weekend!

There's a shop in Putney area that sells it along with a load of other South African produce. You can also get it from London Bridge Station.

Love the stuff, although the South African stuff is always far superior. I wanted to have a go at making it, but the gf put a stop to that.

Only way to know is to try some. It's best to avoid the pre-packed stuff if possible, and get some, err, fresh stuff. I like mine a little wetter than most, tends to have good flavour.

That shop does seem to have a great selection though.

Anyone know of recipes on how to make your own Biltong ? .... It would be ideal for a ski / mountaineering expedition I'm on soon.

( a lot of the others are veggies so Biltong would be a LOT tastier than what they'll be eating )

Do you think your climate is ok for it? I'll have a look through the gf's local recipe book s for you a bit later. Drop me a PM if I don't get back to you...

Try this stuff. Amazingly good, and you'll easily get it in time for the weekend. Richard is a star.

I get my Jerky from WildWest, excellent stuff and their customer service is fantastic. Although they don't appear to do Biltong....

So, I've just ordered a load of Biltong from Susmans - www.biltong.co.uk/detail.aspx?ID=2609

Woohoo! Can't wait

I've ordered jerky from Tilamook country smokers in the US before - great service and they ship to the UK no probs.
