Interchangable steering wheel

I saw this thread and am interested in finding the similar kit.


First, I would like the wheel to be an inch closer to me on track. (not bothered on the road)

Second, I think its the best anti theft device available!! (and will impress the birds in the pub if you put the steering wheel on the table)

Third, I fancy having a suade covered smaller wheel for the track. (now I am a pro driver )



I have found one over here but the US thread says their one is better and Paul C, you said that it is available over here now.

Hi Greg,

That's the company, but if you want wheel interchangeability you will have to go with their higher end "racing" version (I think about $50 - $75 more). The latter is used by some Le Mans teams. I definitely prefer a smaller 320mm size wheel for the track.

No Lotus, thats for the help. Do you mean a higher end one similar to the sparco one above or similar to the stack one?

Could you post a link as I have not found any others like that in alcantara.


Or..........do you mean, higher end racing boss? (as I can't find any details on that either)

By the way, despite the website's warning, it's perfectly fine to use the racing version on the street. I spoke with them directly and it is simply a matter of CYA. Unfortunately, you need the street version to retain the horn (could probably be rigged on the other one), but that version does not allow for wheel interchangeability because of the lock.

The Farringdon/Stack wheel is quite expensive and comes in several versions that vary in capabilities.

Thanks Mike, very good data! I will need to get one boss and 2 hubs then, one for each wheel. I think the ones shown there will not fit another hub so will have to do some calling around to get it sorted.

Yes, but according to the guy I talked to from the company, you'll need the racing version to be able to interchange wheels. You should probably deal directly with the company in Canada (website above).

Does the demon tweeks one line up with the holes on the current momo in the M12 GTO-3. If so I presume it would be extremely easy to change & I will want one.

i think there is a company called Raid who do snap off bosses

Just spoke to Brown and Geeson who are the distributors for the snap-off bosses and they said that all of the kits have a slightly different off-set of the lock alignments so that one hub will only fit one boss. So there cannot be any steering wheel interchangeability.


Sparco do a race kit that just pushes on and off but they are £160 and you would have to buy 2 kits to change wheels, too much £££ for me!

I think that will be the same for all similar manufacturs kits.

Also, none of the race kits allow for horn use and I use it a lot to beep at sexy ladies (kidding!)

I think, as Mike said above, this could be sorted, but from what I have found (and with that sparco wheel being £180 too) your looking at about £500 to do this.

Suddenly my normal wheel doesn't seem so bad anymore!!

That isn't true of the Tekniq Snap-off system. As Mike pointed out, Tekniq offers two types. One for street that has a lock on it and each has its own lock design in the hub. That is what I have on my car. The other is a racing version without the lock and you CAN interchange wheels with that unit. That is what Mike has on his car.It sounds as though the distributors in the UK are only selling the street version with the locking hub. As MIke suggested, you should contact Tekniq via email at [e-mail] and they will get you all set up with what you need. They are good car people and very helpful to make sure that you order what you need. BTW, if you peruse the gallery on their web site, you will see my car there.
