Weekend toy selections?

Chatting with a mate at the weekend, he says he's thinking of buying a nearly new M3. Has to have room for the kids (3 & 5) and he doesn't want a rag-top (silly man ) but it's seen as a weekend toy and not a daily driver.

I suggested he might look at a scooby or Evo but any other thoughts?

He's a city type with up to £40k to blow and he's only looked an M3 because he doesn't know what else to look at. They've got the family car but he doesn't drive much as he commutes on the train. I was trying to help him but I wondered if you guys had some off the wall suggestions to convert him to a proper PH.

Sounds like he needs a Cerbera 4.5LW: 40K will get him a very good late model.

He won't find anything that'll be faster, and theres room in the back for the little 'uns.

A 911 will take the kids and is in his price range. It shouldn't take much to explain the Porsche appeal to a non-enthusiast either.

A non enthusiast City type,sounds like he deserves an M3....Keep the enthusiasts cars for those that care..

Im an enthusiast, however non city bound so in effect that allows me a certain passion for my hard earned penny subsidised M. Shame so many of these cars are used by people who don't appreciate the history of the M division.

If I had £40k laying around it would tip the scales toward the R500 if I already had Rugrat transport.

I would say an M5. I had one for about 2 years. Fantastic cars, a good all-rounder.
