Wallpaper paste

Anyone know how long wallpaper paste remains usable after you have mixed it up? I have recollections of my Dad leaving it lying around for days, but not sure if this was because it was still usable or because he was just lazy.

It's fine for a few days - just give it a stir. If it's really lumpy, make a new batch.
