How easy is it to sneak through to the Mulsanne from Houx Annex? and also how does the site compare to Maison Blanche?
I like the idea of being near tetre rouge (great for scaring yourself at night when your drunk).

any thoughts?

You're right next to the Mulsanne by the Tetre Rouge corner but you can't get through to see much on the straight. But you bloody hear it!

do you need to be on the outside of the track to get to the mulsanne? i knmow they dont make it easy to sneak through to the mulsanne, i guess due to the risk that a flying CLK might land on you!

The hump he took off from has been reduced dramatically.

AFAIK the only place to view on the Mulsanne is by the restaurant halfway down although this is pretty much shuttered off these days and then down at the Mulsanne corner. Both of these are accessed from the outside of the circuit. Apart from that you're taking your chances with the gendarmes and the woods, not worth the time and aggro IMHO.

Our lot managed it this year, but with a very good French speaker who had a laugh and a joke with the gendarmes, they were watching the cars go by from the armco the lucky sods.

But, make sure you've sturdy shoes as lots of walking is involved.

I would wholeheartedly disagree with you on this!

My group and I did some bush-walking and made our way to within 10 yds of the cars passing us at over 150mph. This was the absolute highlight of my week, and the poor quality video on my mobile is still one of my treasured memories of my first Le Mans. The pinnacle of this whole experience was watching the driver of a retired Audi? (driving on its started) do a double-take as he coasted past our gang of beer-swilling louts!

I walked through the woods in flipflops and shorts, but in hindsight I should have probably taken a pair of trousers at least to avoid nettles and fences.

We saw no gendarmes, but the marshalls seemed more than content to see us hidden behind a small wooden fence.

My advice - Do it once, just to say that you have!

PS - You are welcome to follow me this year...

You can make it to the Mulsanne from Houx, you just have to walk away from Houx Annexe Roundabout towards the Velodrome and head right for the bushes. I would certainly wear long trousers as there is quite alot of undergrowth you will have to crawl through to avoid the guards. Best done at sunset but wear dark colours just to be sure.

Nothing compares to being that close in the dark. We managed to climb up a tree a little and just stayed quiet and still when security went passed. Loved it.

Its the one 'must do' of the weekend!!

We got to the rough area, on the outside of the track, at about 4am, walked through the forests (in our flip-flops!) and stayed right by the circuit (cars 10ft away ) til day break at which point we bacame too obvious to the police so did a runner before being asked to - as happending 2004!
