Now that we are on the mk2 tuscan

Does anyone know how manymk1 tuscs were built?
5 years of production I guess.

It' propably too much to ask the split between standard or s spec (let alone red rose, 3.6, 4.0 l ,etc, etc)

I'm just trying to get an idea of numbers relative to chim's and griff's...

I'm guessing more mk1 than griff's but obvioulsy less than chims produced...

This may give a very picture of why tusc prices seem low/ relative to performance (ignore past engine issues)

Simply supply and demand...

Have to admit have been tempted by a recently rebuilt mk1, nitrons upgrade ,etc, at what seems like very good money... the maths add up, EVEN IF i need a rebuild in say another 20k miles, running it as a 3rd car with 3k mileaeg limit (as well as griff) would mean 5-6 years of fun (i do personally prefer the mk1's nose over the mk2)

It would be very interesting to know the production number, as there always seem to be about twice as many tuscans for sale, at any one time on autotrader than griffs. cf about 3 times as many as chims cf griffs, and wondered if this ratio holds good for production numbers..

No idea I'm afraid, but I heard a rumour (not sure if true) that TVR can only produce a maximum of 500 cars per year in each model in order to keep within the SVA rules and avoid those horrible European safety regs.

Therefore 5 years, 500 cars = pims o'clock! Take off a few cars that have been rapped round trees, and there can't be many more than 2000 Tuscans on the road??

The only fly in this ointment of course is if they count the 'RR' as a different model to the 'S' and a different model than the 'standard speed six'. In which case you can triple it!

In regards to your temptation - do it, you know it makes sense!

Top-of-my-head-guesstimate would be much the same as above, 2500 max. but due to casualties, probably about 1900-2000 left.....maybe?! I guess hitting the SVA annual limit depended on how complex the build process was....I could be wrong, but I'd guess a Tuscan takes more time to put together than a Griff or Chim. Just thinking of the Mk1 instrument pod, looks like it could be a 'mare to build.

I wonder if the numbers on sale at any one time are inflated by people buying but then getting cold feet about potential S6 issues, whereas V8 Tiv owners generally feel more comfortable about the long term?

remember only a handful of the ultra rare Factory Red Rose models were built with trick engines(steel crank etc) that are now highly sought after and command much higher second hand prices.....

Interesting. When I had mine rebuilt 5 months ago I was told that my engine had a Farndon Billet crank and the engine was a RR 4.0L Shame it still went pop. It Polished up nice by all accounts. I hear that they are rare but I dont know. All I do know is that after 2 and a half years of ownership I am very happy with it, the car not the crank
