Due for release later this year.

Is nothing sacred?

The Wicker Man follows the story of Sheriff Edward Malus (Nicolas Cage) as he investigates the disappearance of a young girl on a remote island off the coast of Maine.

And a Lady Summerisle!

Arrrgh!

Why oh why when Hollywood remake a film or do a book adaptation that was originally set in the UK or anywhere else come to think of it, do they have to reset it in America? It really bugs me!!!!

some of it filmed right near my house.

Not interesting, but true.

Mmm.. what a great film the original was. I've no idea how they'll get close to the atmosphere of the original film - or the superb performances by ewawoowa and Christopher Lee.

See Mr Lee's comments here:

Cool - thats better than mine - that ITV drama just after Chrimbo with Tamzin Outhwaite (Walk Away and I Stumble - blink and you missed it) was filmed in my town.... and several scenes were just round the corner and where I walk to the train station / take my son to school....

Now thats REALLY not interesting!!!!

I reckon it'll be well worth it, to watch Nicolas Cage get burned to death.

Like the remake of Infernal Affairs, the great Hong Kong crime flick from a few years ago. It'll now be set in Boston. Atleast with Jack Nicholson & Ray Winstone as gangsters and Scorsese directing it should be one of the better remakes.

I bet Mr Cage finds the girl, arrests them all, and makes it home safely after a close brush with death at the end.

One of the best things about the original is the soundtrack. I can't see how they can do a WM without similarly beautiful / eerie / original tracks.

Or maybe they will just use the old ones?

OK, I'll see your Tamzin Outhwaite, and I'll raise you a Michelle Collins and Paul Kaye. the BBC's "Two Thousand Acres of Sky" was filmed in my village. You saw my house pretty often, and what they pretended was the school was actually the former lifeboat house, turned village hall. The outside of one pub was used, but when people went in, it was the inside of the other pub.

I could go on....but I'll spare you.
