Dads PDA, Palm Tungsten T3, bleeped last night and went on the blink.
Today, it's memory is as clean as a whistle. Don't blame me, but the dozy sod hasn't been syncing in the last few months and so needs the data thats been put there since then.
Any pointers or help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Brian.

Data can be recovered from these things, but you may need specialist kit or a specialist company to do it for you.
These guys may be worth a try - they sell both recovery software and in-house recovery services:
www.ontrack.co.uk/handheld
Ultimately it's going to come down to how much you need the data back against how much it's going to cost. I'd try some recovery software first myself. Readers for the CompactFlash/SD/etc. cards and SIM cards aren't particularly expensive.

Cheers guys,
Eventually got onto Palm who said that because the memory is dynamic(?), once the battery runs out, it looses everything. When I turned it on earlier I had to re-enter language preference, time, date etc! It's basically brand new in the memory department. Service guy said, once it's gone it's gone (memory). Would this memory reader things help in this case (basically am I wasting my time searching and trying to resolve a hopeless cause)? I would have thought there'd be a backup battery to keep the memory when the main batt gave up the ghost. Where would we be if mobiles did that every time?

The T3 only has RAM memory, which can only store information as long as it has power. Unless you stored the data to a CompactFlash memeory card you are SOL.
Cell phones store information in flash memory, which can also still store inforamtion when it is off. RAM memory is fast and cheap, perfect for PDA's wehre you can sync your data to a PC. Cell phones don't need very much memory and don't need fast memory access speed, so are a good match for the more expensive flash memory. As the price of flash memory drops however, newer PDAs (like the T5) do come with some flash memory to agument their RAM.
In summary, if your PDA battery ran dry and you didn't backup the data somewhere else, you are out of luck.
