A bit like changing the way in which crimes are recorded = less crime!

I believe whether a criminal is sentenced to community service or prison their rate of re-offending is very similar, so that is not the issue.

What is an issue is that while a criminal is locked up he can commit no further crimes, which is not the case if he is doing a few hours of community service each week. If the prisons are reaching full capacity then build more of them. We all know of cases where criminals are receiving laughable lax sentences, and to make it worse they are often released half way through.

Here's an idea, why not get the inmates of other prisons to do the manual labour to build a new one. That way it'll work out much cheaper.

We both know there will be some legislation somewhere, probably a human-rights one which prevents this.

I suppose they'd build a secret escape tunnel.

Why don't we get rival prisons to fight it out in a Battle Royale style?

It's not a service, it's a punishment

That would be epically sweet. And televise it all too?

what we could do is a have a Running Man style competition, where we release the most dangerous people back onto the streets and hunt them down.

damn - we already do this under early release...who'd thought Running Man was a blue print for future policy?
