My V8D heads have arrived and I'm hoping to bolt my pride and joy back together this weekend. Assuming that I connect everything up in the right way my question is will she run ok on the standard ECU with the mods I've fitted (MC1 cam, stage 3 heads, trumpets, inlet manifold and exhaust manifold)?
I want to get Mark Adams to set everything up properly in due course, but I would like to get a few gentle miles on the cam under my belt first. I'm a bit worried that she might run lean though.
Has anyone done similar mods and run the car for a period on the standard ECU? If not, should I order a tornado chip first and get Mark to set it up later?
Thanks

Not done anything like the mods you have done so take this with a pinch of salt...
Don't think the mods you have carried would affect the running with the standard set up its just that you may not see any power advantage. Main thing to check would be the timing i guess and then keep an eye on the temperature when running.
It may run a bit lumpy but that may be down to the cam change - don't know how extreme the cam is?
Sorry if this does not help...may be some engine expert will come along and help!

I ran my griff for six months on the std ecu chip with the following mods:-H404 cam, ported and polished manifold,45mm trumpets and 72mm plenum. There was no damage done, but then the car was set up by v8d in the first place. They altered the timing, fuel pressure and tune resistor in setting the car up.Unless you can be sure of the AFR being safe throughout the rev range, and various load conditions that you would like to run it on for a while, then i'd strongly advise against it.Guessing could prove a costly mistake!
If i were you i'd buy a MS system(plug and play-no messing with the wiring),then you will save a lot of cash, and be able to map the ignition as well as the fuel very cheaply,as often as you like and taking it to whatever rolling road you like allowing you to get the most from the lovely mods you've chosen
If you buy a wideband lambda, you could even map it yourself if you like-not the impossible black art that some would have you believe!
