Windscreen Woes

Just remembered - driving to work this morning and found me windscreen has cracked, the full lenghth of the screen I take it its laminated glass as the crack is on the outside only. Do you think i need to panic? or will it hold out till I get it replaced?
Stay below Warp Factor 2 and it should get you home Dicky - but get it sorted ASAP in my view.
Mobile Windscreens can usually get it sorted next day - but they will need the car for at least 6 hrs or more (to allow the sealant to cure properly - longer in this temp!)

Watch the B*****ds like hawks when they are doing the job and make sure they ain't cutting through the leather trim when they cut out the old sealer crud.
There was a couple of bods on Ebay selling Wedge glass, they might fit is as well? Have a scout.
Whatever happens take some pics and we'll make an article out of it.

Whilst on this subject has anyone got any bright ideas on removing light scratches and light stone chips from a windscreen ?
Is there a polish or something one can use ?
Don't really want to go down the complete replacement route as there is nothing wrong with it otherwise.
I would try some brasso. Works well on watches.

Thanks Dickymint might try this on a small area first.

Take plenty of pics Dicky, I am sure quite a number of bods would be interested. My glass has started to delaminate around the edges.
Interestingly I only just had to have the windscreen replaced on the Clio due to the Tom Tom suction pad cracking it!

me - how fast does the Clio go
Just checked a message left on my answer phone and had to ring auto-glass.
The guy said he'd been trying to get me since Monday to let me know that they refuse to do the glass on Wedges on-site!! So i have to take it to Hereford next Saturday. His reason was they did one about 6 months ago and had no end of problems because of the amount of "back fill" sealant.
It needs to be done in a controlled environment to do a neat job. Pain in the backside but fair comment don't you think?
He also assured me that its perfectly safe to drive

They also don't want you to see how brutal they might have to be in getting the old one out. I'd get them to check over the car with you when you drop it off to agree any existing marks, scratches, damage to body and interior in the vicinity of the screen, to avoid any confusion if new ones appear.
