Hi

I've recently bought my first Porsche (a 2000 996 C4)and I'm trying to decide who to use to do servicing/repairs? As I'm based in Manchester, I'm being considering using two firms I've found on the web which are:

1. Loe Bank Motors, Bury (Chris Sanderson), or

2. Hartech of Bolton

Does anyone know anything about either of the above please that would help me decide?! Any help would be much appreciated.

I had considered Stratstones in Wilmslow but not sure whether I'd get anything better there than I would via either of the above?

Thanks

Rob

hartech were brilliant with me giving advice a few yrs back, though i miserably failed to reward their patience with a purchase. their online guide is a fine example of charitable dissemination of specialist knowledge. they do seem to have established a particular niche with the 944/968 though - they know more about cams than is decent or healthy. what they are like with 911s i'm not so sure, though at least the one youre considering has a proper cooling system

Used Hartech for about 4yrs and they were faultless and have used 9M for the last 5yrs and trust them implicitly.

If I was only having routine serviceing on a standard car I'd lean towards Hartech but if you're interested in bespoke work then 9M.

Hartech 100%

They have always been spot on with me. Really know their stuff, in fact my 996 is with them as we speak - just passed it's MOT

Have you thought about their Lifetime Maint Plan. Good alternative to Porsche Warranty and OPC Servicing/repair costs. You pay them a monthly fee by DD, they basically then cover all the servicing costs (inc parts and oils) and any labour required for pretty much any repair (including wear and tear) you just pay for parts (and they charge less thn OPC for parts).

I had a broken valve spring last year - I thought the engine was a goner - Baz there rebuilt it using new springs and I just paid for the bits. It would have been easier and less labour for them to have just banged a replacement engine in, but it would have cost me thousands rather than a few hundred.

SECONDED!

They are Porsche & Ferrari specialists and are very good, knowledgable and helpful. Also very handy for Manchester being just a few mins from the Trafford centre.

Anyone who has a genuine "back to the Future" deLorean up on one ramp (it was being prepped for the Cannonball) and an XJ220 up on another is alright in my book

Owned by Nick and Nigel. Nigel is more the Porsche guru but both know their stuff.

Ninemeister without a shadow of a doubt.

No messing you about demanding that you have a 'C' service, even if your car has just been serviced, which cannot be said for some other garages!

Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice. Much appreciated. I've taken the car to Hartec in the end if only because it was slightly nearer that Ninemeister. However, Ninemeister certainly seem to be well recommended so if I need an alternative then I'll certainly now give them a try.
