Looking for a Cerb but hearing confilicting advice about going for a V8 or speed 6.

what do you guys think?
are they as reliable as each other?
Is the S6 cheaper to service?
Is it really a cerb with out a V8?

S6 is roughly the same to service.
Look at Speed Six engine threads for views.
Have you looked at Nervs S6 - bargain and has a great spec and colour etc....

I've driven both 1996 4.2 V8(mine) and someone else's 4.0 speed 6 and i prefer the V8 it seems to have a more peaky engine character which i like. Also the engine note is more beastly which is good and to round it off mines just passed 50,000 miles with no engine trouble, try finding a speed six thats managed that !

the engines are different in nature and characteristics, the speed six is generally more refined it feels smoother in its power delivery and it isn't as savage as the V8's generally and it is easier to drive in town.
the V8's are generally more visceral, the power delivery is explosive and both V8's make a great noise. the two V8's are both excellent engines and give the Cerb a true sporting character i would pick a good 4.5. my favourite TVR.
but it really comes down to what you prefer test drive examples of both and see what takes your fancy neither will dissapoint!

Just noticed the ad

Ironic, that if your after a 2001 non speed six, the cheapest one is £26k & nerv's is £19.5k, thats 7.5k to get the engine of your choice plus whatever you get for a second hand speed six.
