For the first time in one years ownership I have had some 'on-road' fun in the Lada Niva. Last week we had three or four nights of -12C, yesterday it snowed, so this morning going to work was fun for once. Four wheel drifts on deserted roads at about 15-20kph. Laughing at a tr in a Golf who changed lanes continuously to gain advantage, then when at the front at traffic lights on a dual carriageway I see him uselessly spinning his wheels whilst I charge off (charge is a bit exaggerated, but you know what I mean). All the Niva needs is a decent heater that warms the feet as well as the knees!

I know what you mean. A couple of years back I took the S4 out on a totally unnecessary journey, in appalingly icy conditions, just for the fun of it. On sheet ice, bring the revs up to 3500, feed the clutch and let her rip. Stopping was a bit interesting though...
