Better details Here
Looks nice in the picture.
High mileage, though, fairly tenuous Gerry Marshall provenance (never registered in his name) and suffering from electrical gremlins by the sound of it. One to walk away from if the bidding starts to get silly, methinks.
Tried my best to find out who is behind selling this,Gerry Marshall estate ????
Wanted to make a pre auction offer for quick sale (within guide price),spoke in the end to the auction house and hey ho...............................................NO CHANCE MATE!

Do Keep up at the Back PH HAD IT HERE FIRST
and HERE TOO
Had seen all that BB
I meant I was trying to find out who was responsible for the great mans estate!
To be honest IMHO with that mileage and not even having Gerrys name on the Log book I cant see it getting anymore than the price range they have quoted. Mind you even if Gerry was on the book the "relative short time" he owned it would have been sideways.
So would you still want to pay anymore.

Good grief - didn't check back far enough in here - but then maybe it is not in here.
Must've blinked when it went through as news ....
OK. Nothing to see here, move along so we can lock up.
I knew Gerry for a while and I don't recall him running a TVR. There may be a distant connection with him and this car but this was not his personal transport or anything like that. He ran a Vectra supplied by Vauxhall reg number 4 DTV which was a throw-back to his history with Dealer Team Vauxhall and Big Bertha etc. He did a lot with TVR for many years so I wouldn;t be surprised if he had ownership for a while - but as has already been said - mostly sideways, bless him!! I have pic of him driving my old '92 Griff at Castle Combe with a hanky on his head - he said the helmet made his head itch - it's an ace pic!
I also got him to sign my copy of his book "Only here for the beer" in which he wrote " to the husband of my future wife..." as he fancied my missus rotten - dirty old git!! Loved him to bits though - super bloke.

Just found this topic; if you want any info I can let you have it, being Gerry's son. I'm sure you can understand H&Hs reluctance of passing on of details.
This Griff it is good car, I know from driving it to the painters (very carefully and under pain on death and worse from Dad)!
The Electrical fault it had was the central locking and battery. Seems to be a loose connection somewhere and it drains the battery. I'm sure it's an easy fault to fix and Dad hadn't got round to sorting it out before he passed away, was too busy sorting out the Green Prefect and my unreliable Golf GTI (never buy a project car to use as everyday transport!).
He had only had it about 6 months and bought it when one of his friend's wife decided she wanted a Lotus Elise and Dad always having an eye for a bargain bought it. To be honest he bought it to sell, rather than keep (some of you might not know his "job" was motor trading). This car has had a fortune spent on it (adjustable suspension etc) and is/was immaculate outside (the cars has been in storage at H&H for a 3/4 months), as it had just had the bodywork done and MOT.
Just as an aside, Gerry did buy a brand new Griff in the 90s which was registered 4DTV. After several years and too many sideways road moments Dad sold it to a close friend of his (who still owns it today) and moved back into Vauxhall diesel road cars, much more economical and safe!

Hi Gregor good of you to post a reply here.....
I would have been unable to attend the auction thats why I wanted to make an offer pre sale!
I have now however bought another, please at this stage dont tell me you would have considered a bid pre auction!
All the best, and hope the sale goes well.

Good info Gregor and í would like to say , as a kid in the 70s you Father was my hero
I'll second that and add that, as an adult in the 70's, Gerry was and continued to be a source of motor sport enjoyment.
There were times when I feared that his domination of some series might see them decline and vanish but to watch or read about his drives was pure pleasure. That ensured for me that his name, and with him the names of one or two of his main competition supporting the Gerry Marshall Show, is and will be remembered long after others from the same times have been forgotten.
Thanks for the insights Gregor.

In my estimation...........
8k tops!
I was there yesterday, top bid was £6,250, which was below the reserve and it was only a 'provisional' sale. Car did look rough, much worse than the pictures suggest, it had obviously been sat outside for some time, the paintwork had been cleaned but the roof was covered in bird sh1t.
