944: Will the good ones start to appreciate it value soon?
Discussion
Been doing some thinking of late... 944's are perhaps the most undervalued cars on the market (perhaps because so many were built). However, maybe the time is now coming where good ones, with decent miles and condition are getting harder to find.
Does anyone see values beginning to climb sooon? The Turbos are a candidate for that...
I have a Turbo Cab (only 43 in UK) in great condition and I'll bet that I'll sell it for more than I bought it for in 4 years or so...
What does collective wisdom say?

There were only 4 968 turbo RS's made see here www.968turbo.homestead.com/
The last one to change hands went to Jason at Paragon in the USA (a very nice bloke btw)

The Turbo RS was a race car - there are many replicas around. There were 16 factory Turbo S's built - road going versions. The last one of them I saw for sale was in Germany a couple of years back - asking price was about €75k IIRC. There are some superb replicas of those around too - mostly in the states. One or two are being built in the UK at the moment by various enthusiasts.
IIRC the RS that Jason bought was up for about $65,000
The last Turbo S sold (which was Midnight Blue metallic) was up for around £30,000 and it was later seen at Croft:

Got to be £8-10k for a quality 951 (944 Turbo), Cab maybe £12k depending on condition. Sunday Times did a write up last April saying good value for money then. Still think so now. Dont see appreciation for 944 Turbo for another 5 years but definately holding in value. 944 S2 will continue to depreciate IMO. I dont see any reason for it to increase, no dislike for the car mind.
Yup, inclined to agree. I paid between 9-10 for my T Cab, and I reckon with the work done to it, it should be worth around 12 now. Another 150 quid on stone chips and internal touch-up should make it mint(ish!)
Of course, with cars like these - someone always really NEEDS to want it. My car has 80k on the clock, so that's low miles for a 944!

I can't see them appreciating as a general rule ever to be honest. You may buy a bargain and sell it for more than you paid or you might restore an example but as a general rule, no. The best you can hope for is that the rate of depreciation slows so it would appear that prices have bottomed out which they haven't appeared to have done.

305 bhp
but more importantly 369 lb ft @3000 rpm
(easily achieved on a modded 944 turbo, well not quite at those revs)
What was the lag like? 944 lag is noticeable....!
944 lag is mostly down to the premature opening of the wastegate (designed) by a weak spring
You are never going to defy the laws of physics but a dual port wastegate or MBC is going to transform the experience
