Hopefully, I'm not refuelling the flames of the Modern Porsches Are Rubbish debate.
However, have any other 997 drivers not received notification of the work needed on the exhausts yet? I've just had to ring an OPC to find out what's happening. The car is booked in now, but I wonder what would have happened if I didn't read magazines like EVO and GTPP or forums like this?
Actually, I know what would have happened. Nothing.
The car was bought new from an independent dealer near Coventry, but surely this shouldn't affect what could have been an important safety recall?

I have heard nothing from my OPC where I bought the car.
I am growing less fond of my dealer. Recently I requested a new drivers mat as mine had worn out after 5k miles - they admitted that several customers had the same problem. However both Porsche and the OPC refused to replace it under warranty. This is really only a trivial matter but they could have easily replaced it. I have had 3 new cars in 5 years from them and I have a GT3 on order - this demonstrates their unbelievable contempt for the customer.
Sorry for the rant - getting all steamed up again!

I've brought this thread back to life because my car came back from Hatfield OPC on Friday after having the work done. And it doesn't rattle now when I start up. I thought the noise was just caused by the silencers being cold, but I guess I may have had one with a minor problem. Anyone else had the work done / noticed any difference?
I received recall notification on the car which I sold to an OPC many months ago - you would have thought that they would ensure that the central ownership records were updated? I could understand why used cars that have entered the independent channel are not logged by Porsche GB...

out of interest, does anyone know when the recall was first publicised (by porsche) ?
thx
The recall was issued on the 11th january 2006. Here is the original text from Porsche:

had mine in since the recall - Htafield - I mentioned it whilst it was in - told was not relevant to 997C2S which I think is rubbish - it needs to go back due to failure to properly upgrade the PMC sat nav software which now has an intermittant fault - on the basis of this thread I will twist their tails about the recall

It is rubbish. Mine was in last week to have it done and I now have very attractive (not) dark marks on all four tail pipes.
It's going back in again next week.
