Is white really the new silver?

If I was in the market for a Boxter, I would have snapped up the white one that was at Camtune a few weeeks back. It looked great. With a set of black Tech Art wheels it would have been stunning.
Yeah it looked fantastic didn't it.
This thread is spot on - white is the new silver (thank god - I'm so sick of silver) and on some cars it looks amazing (can you tell my city runabout is a white Golf? )
Which manufacturer has built almost all it's model range to look best in white? Boxser, Cayenne, GT3 - yes white is the colour of choice for your next Porsche!
His Looniness has spoken. Watch sales of white colours increase tenfold in next 2 days. Loony buys shares in white paint factory.
Silver, grey, black, dark blue
Isn't it about time we had some more interesting colour choices without having to pay an arm and a leg for "colour to sample"?

If the imfamous 'they' are saying it you can ignore it
"They " are "the people " that David Beckham always refers to, if you`ve nowt else to do but listen to him speak , count the number of times "people" are in the conversation.
I `ve had two white Porsche`s, the bees knees if the`re 911 Club Sport and 1975 Turbo, not so enamoured with white 996 or 997.

Funny you mention the Golf. Manufacturers will always have certain colours for their Press and PR cars - hues the designers have mandated as being appropriate/sympathetic to the look of their new baby. White was one of VW's for the new GTi. And it looks great. It goes without saying that all GT3 RSs look great. As does Cargraphic's new white 3.8 RSC.
I just feel white cars need the added 'masculinity' shall we say, that spoilers and dark wheels give them. I reckon the Golf gets away with it because of its angular lines. A bog standard 997 or Heaven forbid, a Cayenne, doesn't.
Again, IMO.

'They' keep saying white is coming back in. I've seen a 997 in Carrara White around town a few times and I have to admit I'm not sure yet. Fine for track cars but that's just my 2p. Discuss.
Yes been preaching this for the last three years..........
964RS GP White what else!
IMO white looks great on the 911 3.2 Club Sport and 996 GT3 RS, because they're the real deal.
A Boxster in white with Red/Blue wheels and side Boxster decals may look interesting, I've never seen one but it'll limit the people willing to buy it.
Can someone post a picture of a white Boxster, Cayenne etc which has been colour coded sympathetically?

I agree, white is the new silver.
I LOVE the new Golf GTI in white. If I was buying one of those (and I might as a daily driver) I would have a white manual one with 18" wheels ( not 19" ) and cloth check seats. Very nice indeed. Mind you, the Focus ST could be a rude value daily driver as well.
On the subject of the white 987 Boxster S at Camtune, it was just lovely. If I was in the market for one though, would I have had the balls to buy a white one? I don't know. But if I was buying a Boxster for my bird, then I would pester her to choose white, definitely. I might feel like a bit of a poofter in a white Boxster. Bt I would have a white 997.
