Anyone had any experience of this firm or others like it?

I'm taking my sister up there tomorrow for an interview. As I understand it, she pays them to train her as a web designer, and they guarantee a £20k+ job at the end of it.

If there's anything you'd rather not post, please email me via my profile.

TIA

No! No! No!
She would be much better learning herself, and NOT paying for a guaranteed job, where none exist.
Best bet with the market in its fat bloaty state is to try and get hired as a trainee, junior, or even volunteer for a while, and join their web design/visualisation department.

Ted, is it naming and shaming to say that the whole lot of em are evil bloodsucking fleece merchants?

Just had a call from her - thankfully she's done a little research herself and decided not to go ahead. I'm very relieved after your post!

Thanks for your help

I would second that, avoid at all costs in my opinion.

Perhaps she could follow this thread www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=242281&f=95&h=0

I'd be interested to know how much that course costs. I don't know how they can guarantee a Web designer job at £20k, as, with all due respect, Web designers are 2 a penny nowadays.

People always ask what the difference between a Web designer and a Web developer are.

I always say:

A degree in Computer Science and about 10 grand.

does anyone actually know anyone who actually got a job (and is still employed)this way ? i always see these tv adverts promising the world, but personally i cant imagine any of my previous, or current employer taking on someone with only a piece of paper from a non-descript training company....

Work experience is still the way i think. Its the way i got in and it proves your worth

Thats still the case, most degrees arent worth the paper they are printed on, it comes down to real world experience.
